Safety and health
How to take part safely, when to seek help, and how to use MindHug Zero.
Version 1 · Effective 23 September 2026
If you need urgent help
MindHug is not a crisis service and cannot respond to emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
For urgent mental-health support in the UK, call NHS 111 and choose the mental-health option, or contact Samaritans free on 116 123, at any time, or text SHOUT to 85258. Outside the UK, contact your local emergency services or crisis line.
Taking part in MindHug programmes
MindHug programmes are educational and developmental. They are not therapy and not a clinical service. Participation is voluntary at every stage, including individual exercises, and you can step back at any point.
Every cohort carries safeguarding oversight held by a qualified psychologist. This work can go near real distress; where someone needs clinical support we say so and signpost it rather than absorbing it into a workshop. If anything in a session raises a concern for you, tell the facilitator or email [email protected].
Using MindHug Zero safely
MindHug Zero is a wellbeing product that uses sound. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Please follow these precautions:
- Do not use a sleep, relaxation or any reduced-alertness setting while driving, cycling, operating machinery, or doing anything that needs your full attention
- Do not use it while impaired by alcohol or anything else that affects your alertness
- Keep the volume at a comfortable level; sound that is too loud can harm your hearing
- Stop using it if you feel unwell, dizzy or distressed
- If you have epilepsy or a seizure condition, a condition affected by sound or sensory stimulation, a hearing condition, a hearing aid or implanted hearing device, or if you are pregnant, seek medical advice on whether it is suitable for you before you use it
