Experiential learning
Virtual reality inside MindHug programmes
VR is a learning tool inside our programmes, for when an assumption is too familiar to examine in a meeting room. It can also be licensed on its own.
Why experiential learning
You cannot argue somebody out of a shortcut. You can put them somewhere it does not work.
An assumption held for twenty years is not held as an opinion. It is held as the shape of the room. Told it is wrong, a person defends it, because defending it costs less than rebuilding everything attached to it.
Changing the environment changes what is available to question. In an unfamiliar setting the usual prediction does not apply, and for a short window the assumption is visible rather than invisible. That window is where the work happens.
This is the E in SURE, doing the thing the other three letters set up.
The content
The migratory journey, from Africa to Europe via Asia
Participants travel the route humans took, and watch behaviour form as conditions change. What kept a group alive in one place becomes the thing that holds them back in the next. The generational basis of behaviour, felt rather than explained.

What participants experience
Twenty minutes in, and then the part that matters
- 01
Brief
What is about to happen, and explicit permission to stop at any point. Safety comes before the headset.
- 02
The journey
A guided passage through the migratory route, with behaviour forming and hardening as the conditions change.
- 03
The debrief
Facilitated, in a small group. This is where the experience becomes an insight about the participant’s own working life.
- 04
The transfer
One assumption each person will test back at work, named out loud before the session ends.
Where it sits
Inside a programme, not instead of one
VR is one session inside a larger programme. On its own it is a memorable twenty minutes. Held inside SURE, with the safety built first and the debrief built after, it is the point where a long-held assumption becomes negotiable.
Licensing
Occasionally licensed separately
Some organisations want the experience for their own facilitators. We license it where we can be confident the debrief will be run properly, because the debrief is where the value is.
